Lefteris Olympios was born in Limassol in 1953. He lives and works in Amsterdam.

 

Between 1973 and 1976 he studied Graphic Arts at the Doxiades School in Athens. In 1978 he enrolled at the School of Fine Arts, Athens to study painting, iconography, fresco and mosaic. He continued his studies in painting and sculpture at the Free Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague.

 

In 1997 he represented Cyprus at 47th Venice Biennale with the series ‘Philoxenia’.

 

In 2012 the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens organized a retrospective exhibition of his work titled ‘Facing Byzantium’.

 

Olympios exhibits regularly in the Neteherlads, Cyprus and Greece. His work is in major private and public collections worldwide.
