how to buy

auction dates

Our main auctions normally take place twice a year. We hold one Greek & Cypriot art sale in spring and another in winter. Our specific auction dates are announced online approximately a month before the auction.

We strongly suggest that you register here to receive our newsletter where you will be notified of any future auction or event and to also receive details and an invitation to our viewing reception.

catalogues

Catalogues of our current auctions are made available for you to view online, approximately one month before each auction. A PDF version of the catalogue will also be available if you wish to download it.

Printed catalogues are made available for you during all of our pre-auction viewing events and during the actual auction evening.

Past auction catalogues and results are also available to view online and in PDF format for downloading.

viewing

Lots featured in any of our forthcoming Greek Sale are made available for a closer examination in person during our viewing events which normally take place in Athens and Nicosia sometime before the auction.

Our current auction viewing venues, dates and times will be displayed on our website and will also be advised by newsletter to everyone that has registered in our mailing list.

bidding

in person

You can bid in person by attending the auction where you will be issued with a paddle number to enable you to bid on your chosen lots. You can also bid any time before the auction by visiting our Nicosia saleroom to register your bids.

live bidding

Live bidding for our auction is available through www.invaluable.com
Please note that any lots purchased online via invaluable will be subject to an additional charge of 5% commission charge + VAT on the hammer price.

absentee bid

If you are unable to attend the auction in person then let us bid on your behalf.

You can submit a confidential absentee bid from each particular lot’s details page of our current auction indicating your maximum bid in euro, excluding the buyer’s premium and any applicable taxes. Our staff will then execute the bid on your behalf. Taking into account the reserve price and other bidders, we will always try to secure the item for you at the lowest price within your maximum bidding limit.

telephone bid

If you cannot be present at the auction then as an alternative to placing an absentee bid you can request to bid by telephone.
A member of staff will telephone you during the auction and bid live on your behalf according to your instructions.

payment

Successful bidders can pay immediately after the sale, the next day or thereafter.
Payment is due within 7 days after the auction.

A commission of 15% plus VAT is added to the hammer price.
VAT (currently at 19%) is only applicable to the buyer’s premium and not the hammer price

Payment can be made in any of the following ways:

  • Cash
  • Bank transfer – We will provide you with our bank account details
