Art/Mode Art Company (late 1940s – early 1970s)
Art/ Mode Art Company was founded by Arthur Pepper in the late 1940s and flourished in the 1950s and 1960s, the golden age of costume jewelry.
The company produced designs in the Renaissance, Victorian and Art-Deco styles, usually in the form of flowers, fruit or leafage, and rarely figures of animals and reptiles. Their jewelry was mostly embellished with rhinestones, enamel and crystals. The brand is particularly sought after by collectors for its Christmas brooches depicting Christmas trees, wreaths, candles, angels and bells.
Almost all jewelry by the brand (with the possible exception of earlier works) bears the marks ModeArt, Mode-Art or just Art.
